FAQs

  • A damp survey is a detailed inspection of your property to identify signs of moisture problems, such as rising damp, penetrating damp, or condensation. At Dry Forge, we use professional tools like moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras to find the root cause and provide clear, unbiased advice.

  • You may need a damp survey if you notice:

    • Musty smells

    • Peeling paint or wallpaper

    • Damp patches or water stains

    • Mould growth

    • Cold, clammy walls
If you're buying or selling a property, a damp survey can also give peace of mind and avoid surprises later.

  • We use industry-grade tools including:

    • Thermal Imaging Cameras to detect hidden damp or cold spots

    • Protimeter Moisture Meters to measure moisture in walls and floors

    • Hygrometers and other tools depending on the situation
This helps us diagnose issues accurately — not just guess based on surface signs.

  • A typical damp survey takes between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours, depending on the size of the property and the number of affected areas. Larger or more complex buildings may take longer.

  • Yes. Our surveys are focused on diagnosis, not sales. We aim to identify the cause — whether it's condensation, leaking gutters, failed damp proofing, or something else — and explain it clearly in a bespoke report, including photos and moisture readings.

  • Yes. If you choose to proceed, Dry Forge offers tailored treatment services, including mould remediation, condensation control, and damp-proofing advice. However, our survey and report stand alone — you’re never pressured into further work.

  • Our damp survey is priced at £60 per affected room. This includes diagnosis using professional tools and a full written report. It’s a transparent, fixed price — no hidden charges.

  • No. Unless you choose to have an invassive survey which may be recommended to assess the conditions of subfloors etc. Even then we try to use endoscope cameras. Our surveys are non-invasive, meaning we don’t break into walls or floors unless absolutely necessary. We use surface tools and scanning equipment to identify issues without causing damage.

  • We’re happy to survey a single room, a few problem areas, or the whole property — it’s entirely up to you. Each room is assessed individually, and you’ll receive findings specific to the areas surveyed.

  • You'll receive a bespoke damp report with clear findings, images, and recommendations. From there, you can decide how you’d like to move forward — either with Dry Forge or another contractor. The choice is yours.
